Over time, your hardwood floors can get really scratched up, its just a fact of life. But you will eventually will want to fix the scratches, no matter how shallow they may be to improve your homes value. How can you fix these minor scratches though? Well that is what is going to be discussed in this article today.
First, you want to remove all dirt from the scratch so that when you apply the fix, its cleaned and the fix won’t be removed as soon as you put it on. You can clean it with simple hardwood floor cleaner, or even a damp wash cloth depending on how deep the scratch is. Next, wash the cleaner off with a damp cloth to further sanitize the affected area. Of course, you’ll want the area completely dry before moving on to the next step.
Now you will want to start apply a wax stick over the scratch in order to fill in the area. If the wax does not immediately fill in the scratch, you can use a putty knife in order to squeeze the wax into the scratch. Allow the wax to dry, and then move on to the next step. Once the wax is done drying, the final thing to do is buff out the scratch. Buff the wax off very lightly, to clean off the top layer ever so slightly without taking off the fix.
Following these simple steps will help you to fix the shallowest of scratches to even the deepest.
