If you are noticing an infestation of little flies in your bathroom, you are most likely dealing with drain flies, also known as sewer gnats. While they might resemble fruit flies, they are a completely different species. As the name implies, sewer gnats live inside of your sewer pipes. They build nests inside of the pipes, and will come out once they are mature. This means that once you spot them, they have already been living inside of your pipes for a while. The problem with getting rid of a sewer gnat infestation is that they can survive a lot of things. Even pouring hot water down the pipes is not always enough, and you only need a few of them to survive for the infestation to start back up again. The best way to remove sewer gnats is to use a mechanical method, such as a snake. This will be able to dislodge the nest and send it down the drain.
