When you plug an electrical appliance into a wall receptacle, do you ever worry about getting electrocuted? For most of us, this is probably not a concern, but depending on how your home is wired, there is a possibility that a hidden risk could be inside of your walls. In some homes, homeowners have grounded wall receptacles that are actually not connected to a proper ground. This might have been done by some do-it-yourself homeowner that did not have enough experience or knowledge.
So what can you do to remedy this situation? Unfortunately, there is no simple fix. While some homes might have the necessary ground wires to attach, chances are that older homes simply do not have the wiring required. To fix this problem a homeowner could install GFCI receptacles. These are available to purchase in any hardware store, but they should preferably be installed by an experienced electrician.
